INTERESTED IN JOINING THE ALBANY JAZZ BAND?
Here's how
The Albany Jazz Band Big Band consists of 5-6 saxes (2 altos, 2 tenors, 1 bari, with some flute and clarinet doubling), 4 trumpets, 4 trombones, rhythm (bass, drums, percussion, piano, guitar), and male and female vocalists. The Albany Jazz Band Small Band consists of 3 saxes (alto, tenor, bari), 1 trombone, 2 trumpets, rhythm (bass, drums, piano, guitar), and male and female vocalists. The Big Band and Small Band have one 90-120 minute rehearsal each week at an East Bay location and perform every 2-3 months. The bands typically don't rehearse during the summer.
------------------------------------------------------------------
The Albany Jazz Bands had their last rehearsal for the current term and are taking a break until regular rehearsals begin in August, 2023.
Rehearsals are held weekly on Wednesday evenings at one of several sites in Albany, California. All seats in both bands were filled in the last term and returning band members will be given first priority for seats in the next term. If there are empty seats for the next term, we will announce them here. Also, we will definitely have openings for substitute players. Finally, we are interested in adding a percussion player to the Big Band for the next term. So please contact us using the "Get in Touch" button below if you are interested in joining the band when we have openings or being a substitute player .
